Brazil ruled out Neymar for this month's World Cup qualifying matches against Argentina and Colombia.

In a video released by the Brazil Football Confederation, coach Dorival JĂșnior stated that Neymar, goalkeeper Ederson, and defender Danilo were not fit to play for unknown reasons.

After returning to Santos in January, the 33-year-old striker was substituted for his most recent game on March 2 due to what appeared to be a left thigh injury. A few days later, he missed Corinthians' semifinal match in the Sao Paulo state championship.

Neymar was replaced in the squad by Endrick, a striker for Real Madrid.

Lucas Perri of Lyon replaced Ederson, while Alex Sandro, a Brazil veteran and colleague of Flamengo's Danilo, took his position.

After a nearly one and a half-year absence, former captain Neymar was called up by Brazil this month. He just recently made a comeback to action after suffering an ACL injury in October 2023 while playing for Brazil against Uruguay.

Fifth in South American qualification, Brazil will host Colombia on March 20 before visiting Argentina, the leader, in Buenos Aires five days later. Read more...
